If you know me, you know I love Dîner en Blanc.
Presented in Vancouver by The Social Concierge, this is one of the most fun events of the summer. This year’s is on Thursday, August 23.
Part of the fun is the challenge: to acquire your crisp white ensembles, to find an easy way to cart your own tables and chairs and linens and dishes and plates and food – and décor!
It really is unlike anything else. And despite all of the drama and challenge during the preparation, once everyone gets their tables in place and pops up, the scene is magic.
A sea of people elegantly gathered kick off the occasion with a napkin wave, and then everyone eats and drinks and socializes, while surrounded by dancers or acrobats or musicians. The evening wraps with the ‘sparkler moment’ – with everyone adding their bit of bright light to the night.
This event has traditionally been a bit tough to attend. If you are not already in the system, you need to be sponsored. Participation in this unique event happens in three stages: Phase 1 is for members from the previous year; Phase 2 is for new members who are referred by Phase I attendees; and Phase 3 is for people who signed up on the waiting list.
