It’s almost that time again: that mid-summer Vancouver afternoon at the races which offers entertaining horse racing and betting action at Hastings Racecourse, but also so much more.
I am talking about the Deighton Cup, Vancouver’s most stylish summer event, which is celebrating a milestone: it is the 10th anniversary of this summer spectacle on Saturday, July 21 from 12pm to 8pm.
In 2008, the Deighton Cup was born, and over the past decade has grown from a few hundred attendees outfitted in their best, to last year’s record of 6,000 people.
Presented by Parade Agency and The Social Concierge, the 10th Annual Deighton Cup will again showcase the best of Vancouver food, fashion and fun.
In honour of their banner year, the Deighton Cup has teamed up with some of Vancouver’s most popular restaurants: EARLS, The Pawn Shop, Dixie’s BBQ, Miku, Minami, and Chambar Restaurant, to offer flavours for every taste.
Larger groups can opt for a Trackside VIP Booth or a Grandstand Box (if still available) & then take advantage of a sumptuous spread prepared by Hawksworth Restaurant.
If you have never attended, what you can expect is a full day of exhilarating horse races beginning at 1:15pm, performance and luxury vehicles on display in the Miles End Motors Field of Dreams, and there is a popular Style Stakes Best Dressed competition sponsored by Indochino and CityLux Boutique.
You are encouraged to dress in your race-watching fancy finery – when else can you wear a fascinator?
A Shucking Competition with delicious Fanny Bay Oysters paired with Piper-Heidsieck Champagne will also be entertaining (and tasty).
